Hello everyone! I am a physical science, chemistry, and physics teacher at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School. This is my 11th year at HMS, and my 22nd year overall. I am very excited to be a part of this project, since it will introduce me to new ways to teach the subjects that I love. I also feel that any way to interact with students in new and innovative ways is exciting. I earned my BA from Northwestern College in Orange City and my MA from UNI. In addition to being the crazy science geek at our school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, who is an insurance and real estate agent, and my 3 girls,a 12 year old, and 8 year old and a 5 year old. In what little spare time I have I enjoy camping, fishing, gardening and geocaching

I currently work as a facilitator of knowledge at North Butler High School. This is s tiny set of rural towns in North Eastern Iowa. We are located in Greene, IA which is half way between Mason City and Waterloo ( as the crow flies or along the resultant vector for you physics people out there!) I completed a BA in Earth Science Education at UNI, went out to teach at Forest City High School, realized I had no idea how to make my ideal classroom a reality. So I went back and completed a MA in Secondary Science Education-with a strong emphasis in Physics while I got a new job at North Butler and had two kids. Maybe I am a little crazy! I am a complete technology nut and my principal said this would be a great thing for me so here I am. I am scared and excited to meet so many new people! Maybe Dan and I will have to hit some geocaches because the husband took my GPS so he wouldn't get lost. I am hopeful that what ever the error I keep getting when I try to upload a picture goes away on some electron somewhere so you all can see which wacky one to watch out for. ;P OK so the IO error is really poopy head ( my son's words to explain that mad face I am making right now.) IO error was my browser...thinkin like a scientist and kept hypothesizing!

I currently teach physical science, chemistry and 2 levels of physics at New London High School in southeastern Iowa, where I have taught for 5 years. The previous 5 years were spent teaching physical science, astronomy, and 3 level of physics at Burlington High School. My teaching was transformed six years ago when I attended ASU's Modeling Physics workshop in Arizona. It is amazing the difference it has made with my students! I also enjoy the challenge and blessing of raising four children between the ages of 2 and 8.

{IMG_7171_copy.jpg} Hello! My name is Ashley Fahey and I’m currently wrapping up my first year of teaching 9th grade physical science at Prairie Point School & 9th Grade Academy in Cedar Rapids, IA. I graduated from Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI) in 2010 with degrees in Secondary Education, Broad Field Science and Chemistry. During college, I was an undergraduate teaching assistant in the departments of Physics and Chemistry where I ran discussion and lab sections. I am currently the “First-Year-Teacher Blogger” for the Marquette College of Education where I write bi-weekly posts on first year teaching experiences.
I live in Iowa City with my fiancé who is a PhD candidate in Medieval History at the University of Iowa. In my spare time, I like to run, bake/cook gluten-free and mentally prepare for my May 28th wedding.

Hi, I teach at Okoboji High School. I love my job! This is my 7th year teaching, my first 2 years were at Emery, South Dakota. I have a BA in Biology from SDSU (glad to see there's at least one other Jackrabbit among us). I currently teach Physical Science, Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology. Okoboji will be a 1:1 school next year, so I am excited to learn about how other teachers are using technology. I rely on Moodle for a number of activities and assessments and am hoping this class will help me improve students' Moodle experience. My husband, Ben, and I live in Spirit Lake. His job makes him travel around the world, so while he's doing that I spend my free time attending SDSU football games, kayaking down the Little Sioux, fishing year round, reading, visiting family in SD and MN, online shopping and hopefully golf this summer.
I'm honored to be part of this community and am looking forward to collaborating with you.
