What we need from the teachers and their principals:
  • we need commitment from the teacher to TEACH the e-curriculum
  • we need the permission/support of local principal
  • we need commitment from the teacher to attend four days of Communities of Practice training- two days in April and two days in July, (plus a commitment to attend a summative workshop in June 2012- may be virtual if no funds available)
  • we need commitment from the teacher to take the OLLIE course "Facilitating eLearning in a Blended Environment" before starting to teach in the fall 2011
  • we need commitment from the teacher to be part of the Community of Practice during the teaching of the course, with a minimum of two communications a month
  • we need teacher to register by April 10 at (TBD) Sample registration: http://survey.aea267.k12.ia.us/survey/6415/1a63/

As we reach out to great teachers we wil be saying...
  1. we think you would be a good fit for teaching in new ways and we have e-curriculum content for a course that we would like you to teach in the fall of 2011
  2. we will need to get approval from your principal to teach this uniquely designed course AND to understand and support your involvement in the community of practice throughout your first year of teaching this content
  3. your attendance at the two day April training and the two day July training is required but the grant will pay for most expenses and sub costs. You will receive a stipend for attending the July training. (Please note: There is also a summative meeting scheduled for June of 2012, however funding has not been secured so it may be virtual)
  4. you are encouraged/required to take the OLLIE course "Facilitating eLearning in a Blended Environment" this spring/summer. You will receive a stipend for completing this course
  5. you will be supported by the community of practice throughout your first experience of teaching with the e-curriculum provided
  6. you will need to register by April 10 at (TBD) Sample registration: http://survey.aea267.k12.ia.us/survey/6415/1a63/
  7. the AEA system will be involved in supporting your community of practice

How do we best communicate all this to the teachers we want to "tap" and also figure out what support will be needed for them to be able to commit? get list of 1:1 schools, consultants contact specific teachers, registration runs March 11- April 10.

What is the role of the AEA consultants in the Community of Practice and Innovation?
Four consultants are needed to support each of the four Communities of Practice and Innovation. Ideally the team of four consultants will consist of:
  • two curriculum consultants
  • one Iowa Core trained consultant
  • one technology consultant trained in Moodle and social media tools

All consultants on teams go to the April training in order to have a clearer idea of what the support would look like. These two days will be covered from additional day contract ($4000)
